Caledonian Canal through the Great Glen, and some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Scotland. Neptune’s Staircase opened in 1847- a series of 9 locks on the Caledonian Canal, originally constructed in the early 19th century and a few years later deepened. Linking Loch Linnhe Loch Dochfour, Loch Ness, Loch Oich, and Loch Lochy with Loch Ness hence providing a sea route from the East to the West Coast.

River Lochy- one of the best salmon rivers on the West Coast, with fish over 30lb sometimes caught, in 2006 a massive 42lb springer was landed the largest for many years and a good indication of improving stocks.
